Sue Cox: Breastfeeding With Confidence
Breastfeeding is a practical skill which women used to learn by watching a mother breastfeed her baby. Today there are many new mothers who would like to breastfeed but who have not had the opportunity to successfully learn how to do it.
This practical book aims to help by presenting easily understood information, including many stories and comments from breastfeeding mothers that provide a wealth of reassuring advice for others.
Sue Cox, lactation consultant and educator, provides simple answers to the wide range of questions asked by contemporary mothers on many topics, including:
- what you need to know about your baby to make breastfeeding work;
- understanding breasts and breastmilk;
- patterns of feeding; >changes in your relationship with your partner;
- difficulties with breastfeeding; and
- weaning your child
Also included are useful lists of 'Things to do' which provide both preventative and problem-solving approaches to difficulties that may arise during breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding with Confidence is a revised and enlarged edition of Sue Cox's earlier book, Breastfeeding - I Can Do That , a recognised, authoritative guide to this subject.
About the author: Sue Cox, AM, certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) and midwife, is widely respected as one of Australia's leading educators and practitioners in the field. Her expertise has been developed through motherhood, as an Australian Breastfeeding Association counsellor for nearly 30 years and as a midwife, breastfeeding specialist and lactation consultant for 25 years. Sue's work has been recognised in the 2004 Australia Day Honours list, 'For service to community health, particularly as a lactation consultant, educator and counsellor for the care of breastfeeding mothers and their babies'.
